Before we arrive
A few minutes of damage control can save thousands. Here's what to do while we're on the way:
- Turn off the water at the meter (the tap is usually at the front of the property near the fence or footpath).
- Switch off power at the circuit board to any hot water unit or appliance near the water.
- If you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off. Leave the property, open doors and windows on your way out, and call us from outside.
- Move electronics, rugs and valuables clear of any water.
- If sewage is involved, keep kids and pets out of the affected area.
- Take quick photos for your insurer if it's safe to do so.
Not sure if it's an emergency? If water is coming in faster than it can drain, you smell gas, or sewage is backing up — yes, it is. Call us. We'll talk you through it on the phone.
Common emergencies we handle
Burst pipe / flooding
Turn the water off at the meter (the tap usually near the front fence). Move valuables. Call us.
Gas leak or gas smell
Don't switch anything on or off. Leave the property, open windows on your way out, and call us from outside.
Sewer / drain overflow
Stop using all toilets, sinks and washing machines. Keep kids and pets away. We'll bring jetters and CCTV.
No hot water
We carry common Rheem, Rinnai, Dux and Thermann parts on every van — most units restored same day.
Storm damage
Roof plumbing, blocked gutters and overflowing stormwater — we're fully equipped for storm callouts.
Strata / commercial
We work with multiple Illawarra strata managers and small businesses — direct billing available.
Emergency response times across the Illawarra
Typical arrival times for an emergency plumber once you've called. After hours and overnight may add 10–15 minutes depending on where the closest van is. We always confirm an ETA when you call.
Indicative only. Severe weather, multiple concurrent call-outs and very remote addresses can extend these windows — but we'll always tell you the real ETA when you call, not what you want to hear.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
A plumbing emergency is anything that's causing active damage, making the property unsafe, or rendering it uninhabitable until it's resolved. The clearest emergencies are burst pipes (water is coming out faster than it can be mopped up), gas leaks (gas smell inside the house or around the meter), sewer overflows (sewage backing up into the home or yard), and complete loss of water to the whole property. Each of these justifies a 24/7 emergency call-out — and our Shellharbour-based emergency plumbers cover all of them across the Illawarra.
No hot water is the most common borderline case. If it's the middle of winter, you have small children or elderly relatives at home, or the unit is also visibly leaking, treat it as urgent and call us — we carry the most common Rheem, Rinnai, Dux and Thermann parts on every van and can usually have hot water back on the same day. If the unit just stopped working overnight and you're comfortable for a few hours, a first-thing-tomorrow booking is often cheaper and just as fast.
Storm-related plumbing emergencies spike across the Illawarra every few months — blocked stormwater pits, overflowing gutters dumping water into ceiling cavities, and saturated-ground sewer surcharges. We're set up with jetters and CCTV cameras for storm callouts, and we can also help with the insurance reports your insurer will need afterwards.
